Abstract

Technological disruption carries an unavoidable risk of moral and ethical degradation. Seeing the urgency, it is important to foster national attitudes and character through the role of historical education. The purpose of this research is to find out the urgency of history education in national character education as well as the strategies and innovations that can be applied to strengthen the values of national character among students. This research method uses a qualitative approach. Data collection uses national and international books and journals through a literature review. The results of the study show that historical education plays a role in fostering national character attitudes. This can be done by integrating the curriculum, learning processes, and historical learning materials with the values of national character. Strengthening national character can also be done with scaffolding strategies and concepts that have been proven to contribute to policymaking to strengthen character education.
